Description

The U.S. National Academy of Medicine is a private, nonprofit institution that works outside of government to provide objective advice on matters of science, technology, and health. Founded in 1970 as the Institute of Medicine (IOM), we are one of three academies that make up the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine in the United States. Our mission is to improve health for all by advancing science, accelerating health equity, and providing independent, authoritative, and trusted advice nationally and globally. Our vision is a healthier future for everyone.

Objectives

National Academy of Medicine is an independent, evidence-based scientific advisor. To carry out our work, we harness the talents and expertise of accomplished, thoughtful volunteers and undertake meticulous processes to avoid and balance bias.
