My background is on Human Rights, Humanitarian Law, and International Affairs. I worked for 11 years at the Ecuadorian Foreign Service until February 2019: 3 years and a half as Eligibility Officer/Focal Point at the Refugees Division, and 8 years as HR Officer, including as delegate to the UN HRC in Geneva for almost 6 years. I used to interviewed asylum seekers and analyzed their cases, according to IRL, HRL, and IHL. As focal point, I organized the work of the area, trained the new officers, and provided advice. As HR officer in Quito, I focused on the HRC and the 3rd. Committee of the UNGA. I interacted with different stakeholders at national, regional, and international levels. In Geneva, among other activitites, I drafted, negotiated, and followed up Resolutions while leading proposals presented on behalf of Ecuador, including those within core-groups: on weapons, public policies, and parliaments. At UNITAR, since 2019 I’ve been working on capacity building issues related to Human Rights, including Ageing, Anticorruption, sustainable development, entrepreneurship for migrants and refugees.
