I am an Associate with The Centre for Policy on Ageing, and worked on the CPA project “Restor(y)ing Retirement” as part of the Transitions in Later Life programme run by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (https://gulbenkian.pt/uk-branch/our-work/transitions-in-later-life/). For the last 10 years I have been working with Dr Hannah McDowall, a Director of Canopy, a not for profit organisation set up to grow the social imagination, in a playful exploration to both imagine and reimagine what it means to be in right relationship with ageing for people of all ages. We are exploring ways to take a life course approach to changing attitudes to ageing and ageism –including internalised ageism. Currently we are focusing upon Birthdays as a tool for activism for other campaigns and activists. We are looking to stimulate our thinking about ageing and our negative attitudes associated with ageing across the life course – activist interventions for all ages.
