Year started: 2021
Ends: 20 November 2021
Ageism Through the Ages was a sustained theme on ageism that ran between 1 October (UN International Day of Older Persons) and 20 November 2021 (World Children's Day) as a part of the Global Campaign to Combat Ageism. During this month and a half, activities here on the Decade Platform and on social media as well as a range of events run by stakeholders around the world brought attention to ageism through the life-course, giving initial focus to ageism as it affects older people at the beginning of October and moving progressively towards ageism as it affects younger people and children. Through this campaign, change agents from around the world worked together in solidarity to continue advocating for #AWorld4AllAges.
The objective of this campaign was to continue the global conversation and movement around combatting ageism kicked off by the release of the UN Global Report on Ageism. Ageism Through the Ages aimed to showcase how this phenomenon affects us through our lifetime, encourage the engagement of different stakeholders in the Global Campaign to Combat Ageism, and build a movement to change the narrative around age and ageing.
Anyone, anywhere in the world was welcome to be a part of Ageism Through the Ages, whether through sharing knowledge on ageism on the Decade Platform, joining the global conversation on ageism on social media, or by participating in events organised by stakeholders around the world. All knowledge (resources, events, tools, and more) made available as a part of Ageism Through the Ages are available to access through the Decade Platform.
