WHO developed the Integrated Care for Older People (ICOPE) approach to support the transformation of health and social care systems to deliver integrated and person-centred care for older people. A new report summarizes the findings of the first phase of a pilot research programme for ICOPE, based on experiences of implementation across nominated Member States. The report highlights the enablers, barriers, and strengths for implementating the ICOPE approach in countries. The report's findings can support governments, health and care workers and other service providers to implement ICOPE as part of efforts towards universal health coverage: efforts that will support a brighter future for older people.
The launch event included presentations and panel discussions with representatives from Ministries of Health as well as with health and care workers. It also highlighted the perspectives of older people themselves on integrated care. Live interpretation was available in French.
